Use sustainable hosting

The same bytes carry different emissions depending on how the electricity behind them is generated. It is the one improvement that needs no code change.

How to satisfy it

  • Check your host in the Green Web Foundation directory.
  • Ask your provider for their renewable-energy evidence, not just a carbon-neutral claim.
  • Choose a region with a cleaner grid where latency allows.
  • Publish a carbon.txt at the site root so verification tools can find your evidence.
  • Register with the Green Web Foundation once you qualify, so tools like this one can see it.
